Bjarni Grims was practically speaking born in the Darkroom. All his teenage years he helped his father taking pictures both in the studio and at the National Theater. This included working on the lighting and in the Darkroom. He mastered the art of Filming when it turned digital.
Advertisement and fashion are always an adventure both at sea and land. Filming Fishing boxes on a fishing boat in the Atlantic ocean or standing on a roof top photographing the latest Fashion is an everyday treat.
Documentation is also a part of his favorite diet. In his portfolio there are movies about the Icelandic Reggie band Hjállmar traveling to Jamaica, a Biography of the legendary band Grafík and the latest Art show in New York with Deater, Björn and Oddur Roth. Here he is both behind the camera, directing and editing. Work in progress 2014 counts new Art show by Dieter, Björn and Oddur Roth in Milan and A documentary on the origin of the Icelandic horse taken in Mongolia.
Feature movies are becoming more and more popular in Iceland, Bjarni has worked in the lighting department, documenting by photography and video, shoots for the Poster and other PR material.
Lately hes been working more and more in the ART World both in Iceland, Europe and USA. The artist he has worked most with are GABRIELA Friðriksdóttir, SIGUÐUR Guðjónsson, The LOVE Icelandic Corporations, and for the Gallery Hauser & Wirth with Björn and Oddur ROTH. In the ART of Music he has worked with the Icelandic bands like Gus Gus, Minus, Helgi Björns, Hjálmar, Ben Frost and many more.
He is a People Person so the atmosphere around him is always calm and positive which is essential when working on Portraits ,Family pictures and taking foreigners on an Odyssey in the Icelandic Wilderness with his camera.
He has a studio in down town Reykjavík that he calls Backstage, where he enjoys playing with the light for filming and photography, outside there is a Land Rover for traveling over any terrine.
He is a musician and has played drums in Icelandic bands like the deatmetal band Cranium and world know band Leaves.
Bjarni lives at a farm just outside Reykjavík taking care of animals and children and loves to play Chess and cook good Food.
